Peer Buddy Opportunities
Peer Buddies are a large part of Parents of Special People's success.
Becoming a peer buddy allows typical children to become friends with and engage with the disabled children in their classes and their schools, which fosters empathy and inclusive practices. It allows children who might otherwise struggle with making friends to be included with their same-age peers. Volunteering as a peer buddy also fosters a sense of civic duty. Matawan - Aberdeen students who volunteer as a peer buddy can get community service credits as well.
Middle School and High School students who are interested in being peer buddies can reach out to the peer buddy clubs at their schools, or reach out to PoSP directly at the link below.
Peer buddies are needed for the upcoming following PoSP sports seasons:
Fall Bowling - Sundays in October and early November, from 1-3 at AMF Strathmore Lanes
Buddy Basketball - Saturdays in January and February, from 1-3pm at Strathmore Elementary School
Spring Bowling - Sundays in March at AMF Strathmore Lanes from 12:45 until approximately 2:30
PoSP Outdoor Track - Thursdays in May, time TBD
